How to get the original minecraft skin and make it into a different skin

Ok, so I need to replace the wolf texture with another texture, but I'm not entirely sure how to do that. I know that you guys say do research, and I did, and I didn't see anything.

Just use blockbench and select skin, and then wolf. Then select the wolf texture from Minecraft's folder. Then edit the texture, and convert the project into java modded entity. Export the model and the texture. There you go!
