First this is half bug report/half feature request.
I really liked option to make mobs shoot custom ranged items but it still kinda seems limited. especially the fact that I can't even change damage it does. (is this thing or a bug?)
Second. I made that item shoot constantly when active and it doesnt effect entitys fire rate. Is this normal? And if yes. Could you improve it?

okay. still doesnt work. Could you check what I am doing wrong? Name of entity is Ender Sentry and name of weapon is corrupted beacon. I set all damage values good I think

First part was fixed:
The second part is a bit challenging as ranged AI controls shooting range and right now it does not have a field to change rate exposed to my knowledge.
