Is it possible to make a weapon that is 32x32 at 2x scale in your hand but 16x16 in your inventory?

Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find much on either of these, let alone both being done at once.

I want to make a sword that is really long, so I made a 32x32 texture for it. The problem is I want it to be at 2x scale so that it is actually longer than other swords instead of just a higher resolution. Additionally, I have a 16x16 icon of the sword that I want to show in the inventory so that it doesn't look weird when compared to other items. Is it possible to do either of these in MCreator, let alone both at once? I heard they can both be done with json files which I am more than willing to mess with, but I haven't any real knowledge on how they work.

In case that isn't detailed enough, here are the textures that i want to show in the inventory and main hand properly scaled: 16x16 sword next to 32x32 sword

Importing the file as an extruded texture in Blockbench will allow you to make a longer model.
