MCreator is a big success in Minecraft's modding community. During the last 5 years of its existence, MCreator has changed a lot, ranging from adding various mod types and options to improve them by adding events, custom drops, emitting particles, shooting arrows and much more. As the MCreator developed, there have been many changes that changed the way MCreator worked and the way you interacted with it. Many of the things were inspired by you, the community.

Last month, we updated the website, the new home of MCreator and we did that for a reason. With that done, we are happy to announce you the plans for MCreator 2. It will come with a whole new user interface and fix many bugs that came with the current version. This version doesn't exist yet, so we want to give you the word, by allowing you to shape the new MCreator in the way you would like it to be.

This forum topic is for you to discuss developer's ideas and suggestions for the new MCreator 2. We are going to be taking the ideas on other forum topics and let you discuss them.

Notice: MCreator 2 is just a concept at this moment. There is no release date yet, nor release date timeframe.

Here are my ideas for MCreator 2.0:

  • List variables
  • Ore dictionary support.
  • Add a system to create complex structure formations
  • When block added an event for custom plants
  • Set/Get rotation direction of a block
  • Custom mob spawning dial, but bigger. For example. Instead of 8 being a big spawning rate, make it a bigger range, so the new 8 will be 8000, and if you put 7500, would be like between 8 and 7 actually!

could you add a "delay" block  i know that that is hard but it can be done seen as there are delays in vanilla minecraft, PLEASE I REALY NEED THIS!!!!!!!!

I know what else is missing: animation!

When I first started working with the MCreator, for me it was somehow not a very familiar program. And it was - the absence animation! I wanted you to make it so that for something like a move. For example: panel with new elements "moved forward" to the right, and did not appear abruptly, second example - you can make new windows of this program pop up and not appear abruptly. The reason is that firstly: it will be good for eyes. Second: the program will be as familiar as others (for example, Microsoft Word where lot of smooth movements), in the third this program will look prettier.

I'd like to see a more dynamic UI. I want to be able to drag the mod elements around to rearranged them and place them in folders or use the search bar with filters. I'd like a more user-friendly, quality of life centered UI that would be fast to develop with.

Villages aren't full…

Villages aren't full schematics or structures, they are separated and with the omghardcode thingie, they made it so the village was connected, because, all houses have different rotations. Sometimes they spawn in the same rotation, but that's just rare.

Complex structure system…

Complex structure system would be awesome. I've seen it a few times requested but I think it's getting drowned out: my idea would be that structures could have a way to 'interlock' and you could create say, a few prefabs (corridor, left turn, T section) and then there's a chance when the structure spawns that it'll spawn one of its interlock structures off its side. Lining them up might be trouble but it could be done with a pseudo-block (similar to structure voids) that would act as the jigsaw part that glues to the same pseudoblock on other structures.

Still, I'm sure a better system could be thought up.

Maybe just like the block texture interface? a 4way structure, a cap structure in each direction, 4 corner pieces, etc. laid out like a tileset, and you just drag and drop .nbt's on to the grid where they work. That would perhaps alienate vertical structures though, like Twilight Forest's Lich Towers and the End Cities from Vanilla.

Structure blocks??

And I know what you mean, but making a custom system in MCreator for that, is hard. It can be limited, or else it will be slow and you need to fix a lot by hand with it.

Structure blocks on the other hand, can be customized, but are a bit harder to spawn

Hello, a cool thing to add on MCreator is the possibility to have the control on the blockstates.

For example, if we make a new grass, with no blockstates, when there is snow below it, the texture don't change, but if we can add a value like " snowy=true " in the blockstate it cool be cool to realize lot of block, and one thing more is the possibility to have in one block, multiple of other block, like planks with oak, dark oak ... .

An improved mob creator…

An improved mob creator would also be nice, like being able to use more AI options to make complex enemies/bosses. Since, currently, it's just basic actions like running, jumping, swimming, etc. I don't know if this is possible, and you honestly wouldn't have to do this if it's too complicated, but maybe the ability to easily make custom enemy models. I know there's programs already out there for that, but a more convenient option would be nice.

On a different note, perhaps more in-depth structure generation options. Being able to have structures spawn in the air, underwater, or underground would be very useful for certain builds.
