MrCrayfishes Model Creator not working

Every time I load it up no matter what version of the model creator it gives me an empty screen with no grid lines or anything. Also adding a cube or starting a new layer doesn't seem to do anything either. I searched it up and only came across one other guy who had this problem and he had no responses so I'm looking for some help. My java is fully updated considering I just reinstalled it today. Let me know if you have any ideas or personal experience with this problem or think you could help.
