How can i change a sword's swing speed and range?

I'm looking to make a long sword but I don't know how to increase the range and decrease the swing speed

In Minecrraft 1.12.2, it’s impossible, but with the Minecraft update of the new pvp it will be possible.

Just FYI it's not impossible... You can change the speed of any weapon using the attribute generic.attackSpeed you can learn more about attributes here: https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Attribute I'm not sure about how to increase the weapons range though.
