How do I increase the distance a sound can be heard?

I need an item to be audible from very far away, yet the sound tapers off really quickly. How do I increase the distance at which the sound will be heard from?

Aha nvm figured it out.  "Level" controls distance...  I thought that was for decibel modification not distance envelope.  Crisis averted!

"Level" option is listed in the procedure editor on play sound procedure block when defining a procedure that causes the mob to emit sound.
