Hostile Ranged Mob

I am wanting to create a ranged mob with custom projectiles. 

For exaple, I want a Corrupted Wizzard to shoot purple glob like things that dissapear at first. To do this I tried making a ranged weapon with the bullet of the projectile. I then added it to the mobs invintory. I also tried messing around with the mob AI with no success. I do NOT want to use skeleton nor witch because I don't want potion effects nor do I want skeletal sounds. How do I create a ranged mob that shoots purple blob like things.

Use skeleton AI, and the AI

Use skeleton AI, and the AI don't contribute with the sounds, only with the default sounds, get sounds somewhere to it. Simple.

@#1 The skeleton AI makes the mob drop Bones and Arrows.
