Creating a "spreading infection"
Tue, 04/02/2013 - 05:24

So in my bloodstone mod i was thinking of adding some kind of biome or block that would spread some kind of corruption or infection. I think it IS possible to do this using events by maybe changing neghbouring blocks or spawning entities or something but i can't really figure it out...

If you guys find anything about this that could work out please say!

Events

This can be done with events and with some coding. I will try to make this possible without coding.... you need to set you block to add itself. But this is impossible, because using events, you can add all of the blocks except the one you are creating. YOu can fix this using custom code. Select any block and then finish your mod. Go to projects list and click on your mod and then on edit button. Now, find

setBlock(i, j, k, BlockYouSelected.blockID);

or something similar and change BlockYouSelected.blockID to mod_lowercasenameofyoumod.block.blockID

At events it may be possible, but I do not know what kind of infection you are talking about, if you talk about poison or something that takes damage, you can put the Add Potion Effect event, but if you want a new effect, I do not know how to do it.
