Not trying to ruffle feathers here, as I do quite like the concepts behind MCreator. But currently, due to the number of serious issues contained within it, it is sadly unusable for anything serious IMHO.
My primary issue/concern is the constant corrupting of source files/workspace. I've documented my findings and root causes in the link below, but as of yet, no devs have chimed in on it:
Second, locking the source files is a great first step, but the blockstate/models JSON files need to be locked as well, otherwise it limits customization for things like orientable blocks:
These two issues alone cause quite a bit more work than is necessary to build a mod, as you need to constantly rebuild your workspace, and update the MCreator blockstates/model JSON files manually every time you build. It gets old - really old, and fast.
Hopefully, the devs will read this and take my message as it is intended. Not trying to be overly critical, but simply pointing out that the app has tremendous potential, but there are a few things that are definitely holding it back. :(
