"is Event/target entity a child" always reports false

Hello i was trying to make 2 mobs breed and a baby with a different model appear. But when writing the on initial entity spawn procedure to switch out the adult model with the baby. The block "is Event/target entity a child" always reported false but it had a smaller hitbox indicating that it was a baby.
