I have used past versions of Mcreator and have never ran into this problem before but I just got a new computer and just downloaded this version of Mcreator but when I open the .jar file the app begins to set itself up and then stops and says Mcreator setup failed in a box above the open app. Here is the error log.

You are using Java 10, where MCreator only supports Java 8. Check this page for more info: https://mcreator.net/install/mac
You need to have Java 8 as default Java on your computer (JAVA_HOME) and the moment.
Verify this by running java -version to make sure Java 8 is used.
