Texture missing..

So this isn't about me but it's about my brother. So he has a problem where everytime he uses/makes a texture (It's a transparent backaround one and he uses real life things for textures sometimes) it turns to black and pink checkers and we been looking for how to fix it on the forums all day but couldn't find out how
