Hey I'm new to the whole modding thing and was wanting some advice on how where to start. Well that many not be the best way to put. I want to mod 1.15.2 and am waiting until the 2020.3 release for that but I was wondering if it would be worth it to use an older version for say 1.12 to get used to mcreator or to wait until the 2020.3 release.

You can start with 2020.2 and upgrade to 2020.3 later, this is totally doable :)
Thank you I'll certainly give it go. :)
A good way to start modding is just with the basics. Make a simple block. make an item or armour, just anything to get you used to the program.
If you are looking for guidance too, I suggest you check our tutorials collection playlist on our YouTube channel which contains many examples and tutorials that can help you get started with MCreator: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLAeL-oIFIEngE6jRgFYeFMfuj8WQsO3Ei
Thanks again to you both I have been playing around with ores and furnaces.
