So I am publishing mods to a platform, but it only supports Java edition 1.16.4 and the MCreator Forge version, which is 1.16.5, cannot be uploaded to that platform. So I am wondering that can I change the version into 1.16.4, or am I going to use other applications?
You can have 1.16.4 generator if you use snapshots, such as EAP 2021.1 b03117 or older supporting it (you can download them here: MCreator snapshot downloads | MCreator)
Although if you made mod in 2021.1 version or newer, I don't feel it's possible to convert it back, since workspace can only be updated to newer versions and not reversely.
Also, even using snapshots, please remember they are less stable and can result in various bugs (although I used 1.16.4 generators/snapshots and they worked fine for me, so I would say these are pretty safe).
Ok, thanks, I will try it
