Why did you guys ditch 1.12.2, guys. Seriously!

I know there are other forum topics out there that ask about 1.12.2, but hear me out. 1.12.2 is the most popular modded version of Minecraft, and it is also the most versitile. It doen't add as many features as 1.16.5, which makes it easier to mod without conflictions. It was a serious mistake to let it go, and I hope you bring it back. I am starting a Java class in a few days, partly because mcreator doesnt have 1.12.2. I would love to backport my mod to 1.12, but I cant because mcreator is hold me back in that respect. I understand that it would be hard to backport mcreator to prior mentioned version, but seriously, how many people are going to make mods for 1.18? It is too big, and I wouldent be suprised if a lot of peoples lower end PCs crashed when trying to run a modpack on 1.18. I would be a lot better to spend your energy porting to 1.12 than 1.18.

Sorry if I sound annoyed because I am.

forge ditched 1.12, so there…

forge ditched 1.12, so there is no reason for mcreator to support it

also it's impossible to maintain so many versions at once, especially with all the new features.

you are welcome to backport your mod yourself.

I will. Or at least a fork…

I will. Or at least a fork of it. It is not just that forge ditched mcreator, it is that there are still tons of mods being developed for 1.12, and if you think that 1.12 is dead, your wrong. Know rlcraft, one of the most popular modpacks out there, that is made for 1.12? that doesn't seem ditched to me. And I know that it is impossible to maintain so many versions, however, I don't think that you need support for 1.18, or especially 1.17. I went on curseforge just now and checked the number of modpacks. 1.12 has 900 pages of modpacks, and 1.18 has 70, and 1.17 only has a measly 42 pages of modpacks. 1.18/1.17 have around half as many mods as 1.12. I'm pretty sure that it would be worthwhile to maintain 1.12 over 1.17. Also, if forge no longer releases updates to 1.12, it would be much easier to maintain 1.12, since you don't constantly have to adjust for the new forge version.

first of all 1.17 support…

first of all 1.17 support will be dropped when 1.18 comes out, as the community voted in favor of maintaing 1.16 LTS.

the reason why 1.12 had more mods is simply because it is older, and used to be considered the most stable until 1.16 came out.

Also, if forge no longer releases updates to 1.12, it would be much easier to maintain 1.12, since you don't constantly have to adjust for the new forge version.

this is not true. between 1.12 and 1.13 there were game-breaking changes, like id flattening, world-gen rewrite, rendering changes, so on and so forth. this creates total incompatibility; in addition, lots of newer mcreator generator features are created exculsively for newer mc versions, and did not exist for 1.12. without many more people this cannot be maintained.

Yeah, ok. I guess your right. I get it if there are a bunch of different rendering changes. It would be like maintianing 2 mcreators at once. It's just kinda dissapointing. :/
