First time modder, would like guidance. making vanilla+ food mod

Hello!

as title suggests, i'm trying to step into modding through MCreate, hoping to make a food and farming mod for the latest minecraft version (as soon as support for 1.18 has been figured out)

to get my feet in the water, i wanted to ask how you might approach one of the first things i'm trying to figure out: a "boiling pot" block that holds an internal resevoir of "stew", which is filled as certain ingredients are added (think similar to a composter), and which can be used to fill/repair a "thermos" hotbar item that acts as a food source, storing stew, emptying as it's eaten from, and going to an "empty" version when depleted.

advice would be very much appreciated, let me know if this isn't the forum for this.
Thank you in advance!

MCreator doesn't support…

MCreator doesn't support blockstates, not that I know of anyway, so the only way to do that would be to make a new block for every state. And change between them with proceedures.

Ahh,

would it still be possible to make something like this without using block states? using only an internal inventory, for instance?

Yeah sure that'd be possible.
