Make specific body parts disappear?

I was wondering if there is a way to make specific parts of the player model vanish, as I would like to implement armor models that don't completely fit around the head. So, for example, you equip the helmet, and the head disappears so that the corners of it aren't sticking out of the helmet.  Thanks for any replies.
