I added custom sounds and instead of having sounds come out of the block's or the mob's position, it still plays them like they were a global sound, with music coming from jukeboxes having an infinite range of effects, constantly playing until the music ends. I use 2022.4 but I had the same issue with 2022.3. I've checked the files to see if importing them through Mcreator converted stereo sounds into mono, but no, they were still stereo. I found a forum post addressing this issue but never got to a clear solution. I use audacity, maybe there is something wrong with it, but I don't know.
I think it has to do with the sound category
Try changing it to record or something else
you can do that inin the resources tab > sound files > edit selected
@maxpingouin I don't think that's the case, I have custom music that plays from a jukebox, it's set to 'block' and it's still in the both right and left ear. previously I also created a monster and set its sound category to hostile, didn't change a thing.

I think stereo sounds are always server wide (like music)
So yeah you'll probably have to switch it to mono if you want it to be heard locally
and perhaps change the type to record too but I don't know if that would change much
THANK YOU! changing it to mono helped. This issue bugged me so much. Kinda weird that mono sounds act like stereo and stereo sounds act like mono, but I won't argue with this java game.
