I have a chest-plate that gives you resistance when you wear it. But whenever I take damage, it goes away. Does anyone know how to fix this?

eh it works
I fixed it by making it so it has no durability which I'm fine with, but I have a new problem. When i take of the armor, the effect is still there even though I set it to clear it. Do you know how to fix that?
