When I was looking for information about this, I found out that now you can easily and without problems select a value. When I tried to display the variable in the text, there was nothing among the values. I tried to create procedures that returned the value of a variable, it didn't help.

Selecting a value has been moved to the procedure system. The post you saw was probably outdated. You now need to create a procedure that returns a text output(there are multiple tutorials that you can search for that explain how to do that).
