Needing Help with Directional Redstone Like Levers ,Buttons and repeaters

I've been trying to add custom buttons and levers to my mod for a while now and i have no clue how to use the "Emitted redstone power" since theres almost no info about it the procedure inside blocks and the only results i got is the blocks functioning as a redstone block like such :

i am trying to make the redstone actually go to the block behind it and i cant figure out how to make the redstone be directional
