I recently downloaded mcreator 1.8.0 for my MAC (not windows) computer. When I tried to open mcreator.jar, however, it got this funky error message:
mcreator.jar could not be launched. check the console for possible error messages.
can somebody help?
BTW I am using Java 8 8u181.

These YouTube tutorials might help:
Still can't open the JAR, even though I have java 1.8.0 successfully installed. However I have two questions.
1. Do I need JAVAFX installed for Mcreator to open and run properly?
2. Is the mcreator.jar file not working itself? If so, is there another way to open it?
Also, I don't think I have JAVAFX installed.
Sorry for the many replies, but I am also on a mac mini. I remember using Mcreator for 1.7.10 on the other Mac in the house. It installed and worked excellent (however, I wasnt able to submit the mod because I did not have JDK 8)
Maybe my new Mac is not suitable for MCreator? BTW I still have that other Mac.
What do you see when you enter java -version in terminal now?
java version "1.8.0_181"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_181-b13)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.181-b13, mixed mode)
This is ok, second thing is yes, you need Java FX for Java 8 installed in order for MCreator to work.
I already downloaded the Java8 from Oracle a while ago. I don't know if I have JavaFX or not. How do I find out if I have JavaFX? If I don't have It, how do I download it?
MCreator will warn you if you don't have JavaFX installed.
Where do I find Mcreator's message alerting me if I have Java FX installed?
I looked into JavaFX and it says it comes embedded within Java JDK 1.8
What kind of error are you getting when you launch MCreator?
Try to launch MCreator.jar from the console so you can see the actual error log.
