How do you make it so that the end crystals can be placed on a modified block as well as obsidian or bedrock?

How do you make it so that the end crystals can be placed on a modified block as well as obsidian or bedrock?
I don't know how to make it vanilla-like settable, but you could try to check for end crystal in hand on right click; remove one and spawn one above. Don't know how to really edit the real end crystal blocks tho.
