Why does the "get biome temperature" block multiply it by 100?

Why does the "get biome temperature" block multiply it by 100?

I'm confused.

 

Why does the "get biome temperature" block multiply the base temperature by 100? For it doesn't make sense because then would the base temperature of 2(in desert) would be 200. Can someone explain that to me?
