How to Create a Glow Effect Not Visible Through Walls?

I'm making a mod that, when you press a button, will give you something like the "Glow Effect" while also giving you buffs. However, I do not want the glow to be seen through walls. While I know how to make the buffing part, I'm struggling to discover a way to achieve this glowing effect without it being visible behind walls.
