Can I tell if something is rendered / visible?

I'm trying to determine a way to tell if a player can see an entity (it's small, so size is probably negligible), and while I think I could use world render plugin, and loads of other stuff to figure out, that'll go way too far over my head. I'd like to know if anyone already has a way to do this or if there's a way to detect if an entity is visible.
