Can you help me how I could make this work?

How am I gonna make the armor, main hand, and off hand slots work properly. When I put them in the slots, it wont apply to that entity. Like for example I put a diamond helment into the helmet slot of that entity, and then after that, my entity is still not wearing it. How am I gonna fix this.
