I have a few questions about the general publishing guidelines on self-advertising that I wanted to ask.
The part of the guidelines in question:
You may not:
- write and post with the intent to promote your website, products, or services on the website
Before I get on to the questions, I just want to say that I completely understand that you don't want random forum topics like "Come pay me a bunch of money on my website" or "oh wow, look at how great this phone is" or "get enrolled in this class" repeated about thirty times.
Question 1: Are you allowed to mention other things you do, including a website link, on your My Account page?
Question 2: If you create something (say an indie game or a novel) could you make a mod based off of it and publish it as a movie/game themed mod? (so long as the mod itself follows all other rules)
Question 3: As a follow up to question 2, if you can make and publish a mod based off of external content that you are selling, could you also include a link to a store page for that external content on the mod's page?
Question 4: Also related to question 2, could such a mod be eligible for MOTW, so long as it is high enough quality?
Question 5: Related to questions 2 and 3, could you create a forum topic linked to a mod based off of external content that you are selling, and include a link to a store page?
That's all, I just thought that there seemed to be some potential for a blurred line or gray area between the My Account page / the move/game themed mod category, and the rule in the general publishing guidelines against self-advertising, and I would like a little clarity about this.
