I think the issue is that mt computer has too good of a resolution or it might be mcreator doesn't work with windows 8.

My computer: Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro

Software: Windows 8

Resolution: 3200 x 1800

Wondering if anyone has found a solution to this? I'm have the exact same issue, and adjusting screen resolution doesnt help, it seems to be a scaling issue with the GUI. Help?

Thought i'd mention, I also have the same laptop as the OP. Not sure if that helps in determining what the problem is.

In the preferences (there's a button to change them in the top right corner) there's a checkbox labled "use legacy GUI" tick that and restart mcreator. Hope it helps. (I had the same issue, on both windows and linux, and it worked for me)

On a MacBook Pro, I navigate to preferences to set this mysterious legacy GUI option, but the button is not on the screen. Is there a file I can modify or otherwise set this legacy GUI option without the GUI?

Please help if you can! My son is dying to start down the road of Minecraft-modding and I'm excited to join him.

Can I weigh in on this? I have the exact same problem, and litterally nothing helps; there is no file under MCreator>user called "preferences" (NOTHING!) changing the reslotion does not help, and there are litterally no options (NOT EVEN ONE) under the preferences when I laungh the application.

What gives!?!

Sorry, the file is actually
Thu, 10/06/2016 - 02:04

Sorry, the file is actually called "preferences.conf". You have to open it in a text editor that supports linux line-endings. (The default text editor on any linux distro or macOS should be fine, but on windows make sure you use "wordpad" instead of "notepad". If you still can't find the file, maybe make sure you're in the "user" directory and create a file called "preferences.conf". then add the line "ui=legacy".

@#11 Supes, I appricate you trying to help, but when I say "I litterally no file called 'preferences'" I mean there is litterally no file on my entire hard drive (visible or invisible) that acts as the preferences file for MCreator.

Is there something wrong with my installation? This is driving me nuts!
