It'd be nice to have a sort of "Variants" selection when making a biome, that allows you to select other biomes you've made, as a sort of variant of that biome.
We will add support for mod element duplication which will allow you to duplicate existing biome and tweak it from there to make a variant.
No, I mean, not to copy it, that's easy to do, I meant that it always spawns near it/in it/surrounding it. Similar to how hills or edges or shores work.
You define this using biome temperature type. For example, dry biomes tend to spawn together.
I think he is meaning a sub-biome, like how a Forest biome has Forest Hills or a Savanna has Savanna Hills, Savanna Plateau, etc.
Yeah, exactly that, sub-biomes.
The forest has a custom biome implementation in order to achieve this. If Minecraft Forge exposes a public API to do this for custom biomes, we will implement such a feature.
