Checking for multiple items in a slot

I couldn't figure out a way to check if there are 9 or more items in a slot to provide a 'true' output for the if statement. So, I went onto the wiki page and it told me what to do. Unfortunately, this didn't work as I couldn't connect darker blue 'math' blocks with the lighter blue 'if' block. I don't know if it's because I am using a newer version of MCreator to the example or I'm just plain stupid. But please could someone help?  

I'm trying to check that there is at least 9 of the same items in a slot to output a block if that helps.
