Is there a way to change the biome?

For example, I want to make a certain block change the biome where it is on a different one, is it possible?

I want to make a biome of infection that will spread over time. When a new block from this biome appears, the biome for the block will change.

A bit not understood about mycelium... As an example, you can take the taint biome from Thaumcraft. This biome expands over time, replacing other biomes with itself.
