Block states and new machines.

Ok, so ive created a machine using a similar crafting table procedure, and its run sorta like a furnace, but it creates items instantly. I wanted to make it so the machine uses a different block for its ON state, while its creating the items. however, with what I have now, the block will constantly kick me out of the GUI even before I start it. You can see what ive made in the picture below. If someone could help me understand what ive done wrong and what I can do to fix this that would be a huge help. Thank you. The top is the ON state, and the bottom is the OFF state

Use this tutorial.
Instead of replacing block (what will kick you out of the GUI and take 1 more block element) you can use NBT tag and blockstate to change the texture of the block.
