Help with removing items

Best way to remove items from the game entirely, like removing say, the ender pearl, i dont want to be able to get it and use it in any way or, like iron ore, i dont want it to spawn and i dont want to be able to use it. Would be cool if i can do the same with items from mods, not just vanilla and be able to easely adjust which items/blocks are banned/removed.
