In-GUI liquid tank level reader

So I'm trying to make a furnace-type block that consumes lava to combine certain items. That part is easy, but I also want to make a section in it's GUI that will display the current amount of lava in the tank, and tell you how many Mb are in it when you hover over that section. Anyone know how to do this?
