So, this isn't about "How to Create a Custom Armor Model", but about the problems I have. When I'm on the first page, I'll hit the dropdown menu and upload the model I'm using. Then when I go into the second page it asks for an armor texture?? Why? I want a custom model, not the armor texture. I also don't know where to put the texture map, so I ended up putting it in the slot for the helmet. (The body, legs, and boots are disabled. My model is hair, so I don't need the rest). So I made the armor texture, and tried to make it transparent by selecting the full transparency on the Hue selection. Did that, loaded up Minecraft, the model was just a blank, white square without the model even showing up! So I don't know if the problem was the "Armor Texture" or just me putting the Texture Map for my model into the texture slot for the helmet. (Sorry if this is bad explaining. Basically, it asks you to put a texture in it for what the helmet will look like when you're holding it, so I imported the texture map, and clearly it didn't work.) So I'm confused and out of ideas. I looked up how to do this, but no one had the same problem as me. How do I get rid of the "Armor Texture"? When I tried to import the texture map into there to use it as the armor texture... well, I actually don't know how to do that. Could someone tell me? (Also, it's not the model that's the issue, I tested it out on a "living entity" and it worked, it's just the armor model.
I hope you guys could understand that, and if you could, please help! If you don't understand, ask again in a reply and I'll try to explain it to you better. Thanks in advance!
first im going to preface this with saying that what im about to explain is done in the new snapshot and will not work in older versions (as it was added in the new snapshot).
once you have your model created and imported in to mcreator folow the steps below to add it as an item.
1. create a new armor
2. under the advanced settings for each piece select the model for your armor (the "built in" block)
3. under the boxes labeled (Helmet, Body, Arms L, Arms R, Leggings L, Leggings R, Boots L, Boots R) select the group you made in block bench that corresponds with the aforementioned box.
4. under texture select the texture of your armor set.
Thanks, but I'm only trying to put the texture in for the model and the helmet item, not the actual armor. It won't allow me to get past without putting in the armor set. When I put in the armor set I don't think it works. Or maybe it's just me.
