If not planned, I do wish we get the ability to choose what faces/sides redstone can connect/receive power from when making a custom block. An example would be the observer. Redstone can only connect to the side that has the red dot, and can only receive power from the face. I am already happy with the ability to have blocks output power, but these changes/additions would open up a whole world of possibilities.
