Visible sides of transparent blocks when connected

I am making a block with transparency, and with blocks like ice whenever you place them next to each other the connected sides are not visible.
But with my block, the transparent textures compound to create a side of greater saturation and thus giving it this weird grid look.

It is a custom block model, and enabling connected sides does nothing.

Any idea of how to fix this?
