How do I change the world spawn point before the player gets in the game for the first time?

I am looking to make a mod for my modpack which makes the player spawn on a shore instead of a random location, but I am completely lost on the use of this app and modding in general. If anyone could help guide me in the right direction I would be grateful as I have found nothing online.
