player first time join random

Hey does anybody know how I can make it where when the player first joins the world, they get a random item, i have like 10 items that are used to learn skills and i need it to be random so like u join with a random class, I tried doing this but I dont know how to make the player get a random item in the 10 items and the first time they join. Pls help :(
