Setting the tool user as the event target/entity

Im currently trying to make a tool that if you hit an entity with it, gives you an item, i somehow cant seem to do this, any tips?  basically what im trying to do is make a syringe tool that gives  the user blood when they hit an entity, but if i make it give the blood to the target after hitting anentity, it gives the blood to the entity that was hit

Check what is current entity…

Check what is current entity and what is source entity if current entity =!player everything is ok, else recheck it
