Using an item to toggle redstone blocks on and off

Hey, I want to know if there is a way I can create an item that I can right click on iron doors, redstone lamps, trap doors, pistons and so on to either toggle them on. Or to activate them for a few seconds. I have been searching for an answer for ages but I can't find anything.
