How to make that when you press F1 key your custom overlay doesn't hide? (Code)

Im making a map for Minecraft 1.16.5 that includes a mod (The mod im making), this mod has a VHS overlay but when you press F1 key it hides (As usual), is there a way to make him stay after you press the key like the nausea effect gui in MC VANILLA?
