Geckolib armor animations don't work when Helmet tick event is applied.

Ok I've been having a problem with the armor. I am making a hat with the ability to make the player look like a creeper when sneaking. For some odd reason the animations (including the idle) won't work when I make a procedure for the Helmet tick event to detect if the player is sneaking. Even without the if sneaking or any of geckolib procedure blocks the animations still won't work. Only the idle animations work without the Helmet tick event. If there an alternative way to have the helmet have more than one animation, can anyone please provide?
