Trying to use the any block function always results to white

I am trying to make a mod and 4 of the slots for ingredients are using the any concrete powder selector.  when saved and you re-enter the recipe screen while the icon for any is still there it is defaulting to the white variant only.  i even used different any blocks for testing and the all revert to a single block even though the icon stays at the any variant.  this is happening on 1.19.4

i would start a support ticket but im getting permission is denied.
