override vanilla ores with a custom ore

I can't figure out how to replace vanilla ores with a custom ore.

I'm trying to replace all vanilla overworld ores with a custom ore I made,

making the ore replace the vanilla ores with the custom ore in the generation menu didn't work,

and I can't figure out how to make a procedure that works.
