[solution found] blocks not dropping themselves after being mined with multitool

hello!

so i made a multitool with harvest level 5 and a block that requires harvest level 5 and only drops itself when mined with a pickaxe.

the problem is, when i mine it with the multitool, the block just breaks and doesn't drop. i tested it with the block needing to be mined with a shovel instead and got the same result. i removed the tool requirement entirely and it dropped itself just fine.

how can i fix this so that the block drops when mined with the multitool?

edit: found a workaround, just check to see if the item in the main hand of the player and the block harvest level are the same, then break it and drop it if so
