AtMUL stands for "Atmospheric Materials and Unobtrusive Lighting"

AtMUL aims to add materials to the game that don't feel out of place, as well as lighting options that aren't as in-the-way as things like torches can be in some instances.

LIGHTING

There are several methods of lighting added by AtMUL, most of which are found in naturally spawning variants of wood, stone, and sand that give off light; as well as blocks you can craft from those.  Our favorite light emitting block is Shimmershale, in part because of its secondary purpose.

MATERIALS

AtMUL currently adds only a couple new materials that don't have the primary purpose of emitting light (though more are planned for the future!), made with the aim of adding things that feel like they fit into the Minecraft world while also having useful functionality.  Our favorite is Slipstone, a super slippery stone found in some icy biomes!  If you polish it, it gets even more slippery! Slippery enough to destroy boats (to prevent their infinite acceleration)... wait, what?

FEATURES

  • Sand, Glass, Stone, and Cobblestone variants that produce dim light
  • Sand, Glass, Stone, Cobblestone, and Oak variants that produce light as bright as a torch
  • A couple materials more slippery than ice
  • Clouds that give you the slow fall effect for a couple seconds when you fall through it
  • A crystal that spawns underground and infrequently gives nearby mobs the glowing effect
  • Several of these materials naturally spawn in certain areas to add atmospheric value to environments
  • A couple miscellaneous things

This mod was made with the help of MCreator, but we plan to shift over to fully manual coding at some point in the future, and we have a few updates planned for the mod that are in the same vein of what's already here. Animanical and I will occasionally stream development builds of the mod on our Twitch channels.

Changelog

ver. 1.0.0
    Features / Changes:
        - Added several Advancements
        - Removed sound and particles from cloud's slowfall effect

    Bug Fixes:
        - Gloak Doors now have the correct texture when in the inventory or hand
        - Rainbow Cloudweave now has the Cloudweave block tag

ver. 0.9.9999
    Bug Fixes:
        - Gloak and variants now give off 15 light instead of 8.  I was originally intending to have the Logs with bark on them give off less light, but that didn't really make that much sense, and I forgot to increase the light level when I copied over the properties to the rest of the gloak blocks
        - Overhauled how Gloak spawns.  Now it can only rarely spawn in a much shorter range of y levels, but it's no longer likely for there to be several entire forests without a single naturally spawned Gloak Log.
        - Dimstone Stairs, Slabs, and Walls no longer generate in Stone (leftover from copying over the properties of Dimstone)
        - Dimstone and Brightstone are now properly affected by silktouch
        - Dimglass and Bright Glass no longer show the flowing water texture on the outside when submerged

ver. 0.9.999
    Features / Changes:

    - Dimstone, Brightstone, Dim Cobblestone, Bright Cobblestone, Polished Dimstone, and Brightstone Bricks now all have Stairs, Slabs, and Wall variants

    Bug Fixes:

    - Gloak Leaves' non-shears drops are now affected by fortune
    - Gloak Saplings can now be created when an oak sapling is located in the off-hand
    - Recipe categories for several crafting recipes revised to be more in line with Vanilla
    - Gloak fences now connect to normal fences
    - Gloak doors and trapdoors now make the wooden door and wooden trapdoor sound respectively (they used to have the sound of the iron variants)
    - Added Stonecutter recipes for Dimstone, Brightstone, Dim Cobblestone, Bright Cobblestone, Polished Dimstone, Brightstone Bricks, Slipstone, Polished Slipstone, and Slipstone Bricks craftables.
    - Polished Dimstone (and a few other stones) no longer break too slowly with a pickaxe
    - Gloak fences no longer break too slowly with an axe
    - Fixed Glowing Netherrack not having a loot table (because of the name change)

ver. 0.9.99
    Bug Fixes:

    - Gloak Leaves now drop when broken with shears
