I have found a solution to shearing custom leaves. Firstly, for anyone making trees, you must add your leaves to the leaves block and items tag so that they do not despawn when the tree is placed. In the additional harvest conditions of your leaves block, add this, and set the block to whatever your leaves are. Leaves will now drop when you shear them.

will this still allow the trees to drop the saplings as vanilla trees do if the additional harvest condition isn't met?
